Why Backlinks Are Important
Backlinks are perhaps the most important factor of all the things you can do to drive traffic to your website. The more places where a link to your website is posted, the more opportunities for others to click on that link and come to your pages.
And, the more backlinks you have, the higher your site will score with Alexa, and Google and other search engines. The higher your web rank, the higher your site listing will appear in online search results!
But, those backlinks have to be quality backlinks – meaning links, mentions, reviews, guest blog posts on other sites, tweets, Facebook page updates, and newsletter articles that somehow make logical sense as related to your business, product or expertise. Not only is this logical, it’s important for Google and other search engines! Did you know that Google will actually punish you – meaning lower your score, and put you lower on the list on the search engine results pages – if you have a ton of meaningless links?!?! It’s true! So there’s no quick and dirty cure – there’s no “add a thousand backlinks now and soar to the top of Google!” quick fix. Those who offer you thousands of backlinks for a few bucks are not only not helping you, they’re actually hurting you!
